NanoScale is focused on the development and commercialization of advanced products, including our proprietary NanoActive® nanocrystalline metal oxides. NanoScale’s business model includes identifying and pursuing partnerships with both private and government sectors to provide unique solutions. To that end, NanoScale has, in conjunction with the Department of Defense (DoD), Department of Energy (DoE), National Institutes of Health (NIH), National Science Foundation (NSF), Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), other federal agencies, and commercial Customers, invested over $25 million in research and application development. Additionally, independent of our joint efforts with these entities, NanoScale maintains a well funded and active internal R&D program that is dedicated to advancing our Intellectual Property portfolio, identifying new scientific applications for our advanced earth minerals, identifying new markets and applications, and providing new value-added products and services for our Customers. Energy NanoScale technology is currently being evaluated and developed which will improve the overall efficiency of energy systems utilizing the physical characteristics of our nanocrystalline materials. Electronic Materials NanoScale is working to develop next generation component technologies which will lower the overall cost of making electronic components and shrink the overall size of the component. This technology is of particular interest to the cell phone and computer manufacturers worldwide.
